A Show of Hands. Dave Freeman, The Hand Man, takes castings of you and your loved ones hands to create one of a kind sculptures. When I first gained the inspiration to make hand casting my life's work I was faced with an unusual dilemma. I thought to myself, "What is a fair and reasonable price for this type of product." After all, each of my creations is "hand made". I could charge an "arm and a leg" but I'll have to give the hands back and that will cut into my profit. On the other hand, I've learned that it is critical not to sell yourself short, otherwise you might end up "shorthanded".
I quickly gained the necessary knowledge and skill to create a product of the highest quality. Offhand, I could guess that I have done 3000 pieces as of late 2004. In other words, I know this art-form "like the back of my hand." In order to gain the "upper hand", I researched the handy Internet. I discovered "a handful" of other artisans doing similar work. I was surprised to learn that some of my contemporaries are quite pricey and for that I've got to hand it to them!
It was then that I decided it was imperative to turn out the best product possible for lowest possible price- HANDS DOWN!!
I do not consider this practice to be "underhanded". I hope you agree.

Price per base: One hand $100.00
  Each additional hand $75.00
  Personalized name/date plaque $20.00
  Picture Frame $15.00

All castings come professionally mounted on an appropriately sized base at no additional charge.

Starting January 2005 I will begin offering bases in specific wood types and finish options.
Also, in the near future I will be offering castings using alternate materials (i.e. clear-resins, metallic-resins, finishes, etc...).

Keep in mind, these new options significantly alter turn-around time and cost, and will only be offered for in-studio appointments.
